• Dr. william c. jusino: Chairman

Dr. Jusino began his distinguished career with the New York City Department of Education in 1980. He enthusiastically returned to his community to serve as an elementary school teacher in Community School District 13 – PS 46 and PS 270. Continuing his passion for serving his community, Dr. Jusino accepted the position of Executive Director of PROGRESS Inc.. This agency provided management assistance and technical services to hundreds of community-based organizations throughout New York. In 1990, Dr. Jusino began his career as a school administrator serving first as an Assistant Principal in PS 120 (K-6). Then in the spring of 1996, he was offered an exceptional opportunity to lead a high school that would serve as the future model for educational excellence and innovation.- Progress High School for Professional Careers at the Grand Street Campus (formerly Eastern District High School). Dr. Jusino served, for 22 years, as Founding Principal of PROGRESS High School until he retired from the NYC Department of Education in November 2018. Dr. Jusino played a pivotal role in one of the most successful school reform efforts in New York City. Dr. Jusino has proudly joined the faculty at Boricua College and serves aspiring teachers in the TESOL Master’s Degree Program. Dr. Jusino is a recipient of various awards and recognitions, such as the Cahn Fellows Program for Distinguished New York City Principals at Teachers College, Columbia University. Congressional Record Recognition, Congressional Certificate of Recognition and is the recipient of many city and state proclamations. He also received the Educator of the Year Award from the National Puerto Rican Day Parade. However, Dr. Jusino takes great pride in having received the highest NYC Department of Education performance review rating of Highly Effective. Dr. Jusino is eternally grateful to his exceptional team of dedicated and talented educators. Dr. Jusino continues to practice what he preaches and, more importantly, what he was taught by his Mom, Anna and Dad, William Sr. He is the proud parent of two adult children, William Luis (Harvard- Class of 1997) and Amanda Mia (UMASS Class of 2011.)

Executive Staff

• Mr. William Ruiz: Executive Director

A graduate student with a Bachelors Degree in Human Services from Boricua College. As a student of Boricua College, he served as President of the Student Government for 2 years, from 2000 – 2001. Mr. Ruiz is now the Chairman of the Boricua College Alumni Association, which oversees four campuses. Mr. Ruiz was also the first Latino to serve as Vice President for the Liberty Park Glendale Home Owners Association, in 2002 – 2003. He also served as a Housing Advocate for individuals living with HIV/AIDS within the five boroughs.
